History of the institution
The Home was established under the name of the Immaculate Conception. It is a gift from Father Francis Menhem with large lands. The mission began as a workshop with activities that included neighboring villages; the Sisters also took care of the parish church and revived the spiritual life there. Due to the small number of inhabitants of the village, work in the sewing workshop stopped. And since 1992, after the house was rehabilitated, the workshop has been closed to accommodate disabled girls, helping them to lead a family life and allowing them to progress psychologically and socially. It should be noted that the Sisters also take care of the properties of the Congregation in Ijdabra and Bejderfel.
The institution today
With the reception of disabled girls, it became urgent to restore the old house and add the necessary new services, so that the patients could be served in the best way, and feel warmth and joy, as if they were at their own home. For this reason, the interior spaces were enlarged, and the exterior courtyards redesigned with a new entrance, in order to have a new perfect appearance. As for the neighboring house, it was bought thanks to the benefactors, so that it would be the house of the Sisters.
The Sisters are serving the patients, providing them with the necessary care, whether medically through a psychiatrist who come to visit and examine them from the Hospital of the Cross; or spiritually, with the help of employees who watch over their basic needs, through different activities, helping them to spend their time with rest and dynamism.
